Loewen Launches Centennial Celebrations

STEINBACH, MB – Growing from humble origins in the forests of southeastern Manitoba to widespread recognition as a leading supplier of luxury windows and doors around the world, Loewen will celebrate a century of family business success throughout 2005.

“Our legacy of hard work, innovation, artisanship and the application of the latest technology positions us well for the next century of growth,” said Charles Loewen, CEO. Charles, along with brother Clyde, Vice President Product and Technical Services, are the third generation of Loewens to lead the business.

The year of celebrations was launched at the Loewen employee Christmas party on December 3, 2004, where those in attendance were treated to the premiere screening of a new corporate Centennial video. 2005 initiatives will include:

  • A special centennial display and video to be used at trade shows across North America
  • A community/employee Open House scheduled for June
  • A community drama to be staged in the fall of 2005

Celebrations will focus on the Loewen story from the founding years: C.T. Loewen producing lumber and wood products for local settlers; the second generation efforts of C.P. Loewen, marked by national expansion and specialization in windows and doors; and the current leadership of brothers Charles and Clyde Loewen, guiding the Steinbach firm to a position of global prominence for luxury windows and doors. Through successive challenges, the company has grown from a seasonal sawyer’s “bush-camp” to a vibrant manufacturer – 1,500 employees strong and growing.

For luxury homeowners – and the designers, architects and builders they employ – Loewen is the wood window and door brand that delivers an unrivaled combination of experience, craftsmanship and innovative design in an extensive line of Douglas Fir products.

A privately held Canadian corporation, Loewen has distribution around the world with a focus on the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
