March 16th, 2005

Steinbach, MB – In 1905, C.T. Loewen, a Russian Mennonite immigrant, founded a modest millwork operation in Steinbach, Manitoba. That same year, Dr. Frank Damrosch—the godson of composer Franz Liszt and the head of Music Education for New York’s public schools—and his financial partner James Loeb founded the Institute of Musical Art in New York City.

100 years later, the small mill has grown into Loewen, an international corporation that delivers an unrivaled combination of artisanship and innovative, relevant design in an extensive line of wood windows and doors for luxury homeowners. The Institute of Musical Art, following a merger in 1926, has grown to become the world-renowned Juilliard School of the performing arts.

Loewen celebrates this shared centennial and recognizes the similarities of our respected customers: both Loewen and The Juilliard School share a target market that appreciates quality and creative leadership in all aspects of their lives.

Loewen is pleased to announce the publication of a custom-designed advertisement, pictured below, in the Juilliard 100th Anniversary publication, a special issue of The Juilliard Journal, a subscription magazine about matters of interest to the Juilliard community. Approximately 20,000 copies of The Juilliard Journal are published each month. Of this number, 8,500 are distributed to the students, faculty and staff of The Juilliard School and to the Lincoln Center community. The remaining copies are sent to the alumni of The Juilliard School—50 per cent of whom reside in the New York area.

For luxury homeowners – and the designers, architects and builders they employ – Loewen is the wood window and door brand that delivers an unrivaled combination of artisanship and innovative, relevant design leadership in an extensive line of Douglas Fir and new Mahogany products.

A privately held Canadian corporation, Loewen has distribution around the world with a focus on the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
