Loewen Profiled in National Post

Loewen Factory

We may be celebrating our 100th anniversary, but Loewen is still growing strong. In articles published in the National Post (Entrepreneur section – FP20; June 3, 2005) and the Winnipeg Free Press (Business section – B4; May 6, 2005), CEO Charles Loewen discussed the history, vision and values of our vibrant operation.

“To build name recognition for a national and international brand, you must establish trust with your customers," Mr. Loewen told the National Post. "Trust is part of the Mennonite ethos; it is intrinsic to the way we conduct our lives and our business dealings. Trust is what we have developed with our customers."

"A lot of window makers are in small towns. That is because people make all the difference in this business. It is not only the skills but the soft values, as well. Steinbach may only have 10,000 people, but those people have the values we prize. It is those shared values that have allowed us to grow and which will keep us growing into the future."

The Steinbach operation "is a core asset for us," Mr. Loewen explained to the Winnipeg Free Press. "We have a tremendous reservoir of people talent here that has helped create all of these opportunities." “We have been increasing capacity here, and we will continue to do so into the future." Loewen plans to add approximately 250 employees to the Steinbach staff this year.
