This Board is the primary source of governance and development of programs on behalf of the CME in Manitoba, and includes representation from all sectors, including window and door, aerospace, transportation, agriculture, and other manufacturing. Todd’s involvement will help keep us abreast of activity by CME as well as allow for our influence in setting the direction of programs and policies at the Manitoba and Canadian CME levels.

WDMA Announces New Leadership Team – Loewen CEO Named Chair

The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced that its new leadership team was installed today at the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

Al Babiuk of Loewen Windows was elected as the association’s 2015-2017 Chair of the Board of Directors. Al replaces outgoing Chair Steve Donner of Weiland Sliding Doors and Windows.

“During the past year WDMA has continued to demonstrate its effectiveness in representing the interests of our window, door and skylight industry members while driving collaboration with various regulatory and policymaking bodies,” said Babiuk.

“With a high pace of change continuing in the policy areas of energy conservation, building codes, environmental stewardship, housing and taxation, WDMA will again advocate for an approach that balances these reforms with the competitiveness of its members. In addition, the association will be moving forward under its strategic plan with increased areas of focus and expansion of existing programs, and I look forward to taking a leadership role in this exciting phase for the members of WDMA”.

Al Babiuk is President and Chief Executive Officer for Loewen, a 110-year old manufacturer of windows and doors based in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada.

“I look forward to working with Al as WDMA’s new chair. His knowledge and passion for the industry will help move WDMA to the next level as we work to implement WDMA’s new strategic plan and become an even better advocate for the industry,” said WDMA President Michael O’Brien. “I also want to thank Steve Donner for his work and the time he has spent leading WDMA and the whole industry forward.”
