Our Double Hung has been meticulously designed for architectural correctness making it the ideal market choice for new builds and heritage replacements. All configurations present authentic details such as stile and rail aesthetics, tall bottom rail, narrow checkrail, and a hidden jamb liner. Thanks to the innovative balance system, Loewen Double Hung windows open and close smoothly. A single-handed lock/tilt mechanism allows for inward tilting of the sash for easy cleaning – or complete removal. Luxury grade hardware is standard on all Double Hung units in a variety of finishes.

Triple Glazing

Keep outside temperatures out and inside temperatures in.

Our triple glazed Double Hung is as beautiful and architecturally true as our standard Double Hung with the added performance that only our triple glazing can. This performance is a benefit in cold climates but also has an equally beneficial insulative effect in warm climates; the added insulation keeps outside temperatures out and inside temperatures in.

Loewen is known for our strong Coastal Douglas Fir construction and the substantial component profiles we use across our entire product offering. This means our product offering is fundamentally well suited for the requirements of triple glazing.

Our triple glazed Double Hung sash depth is increased to accommodate the dimensional requirements of the thicker sealed unit whereas the frame system is largely unchanged from our dual glazed configurations.

Dual glazing with LowE coatings provide great thermal performance, but nothing performs on all fronts like a triple glazed unit.

Casing & Sill Nosing

Our sill design allows for casing and sill nosing to abut cleanly to the underside of the sill. In addition to being compatible with all standard Loewen casings and sill noses, this sill makes custom casing and sill nose applications easy.

Double Hung Hardware

Sash Locks and Sash Lifts

Our Double Hung windows include traditional style sash locks and sash lifts. These components are available in a variety of finishes, for a comprehensive look at these finishes please see our Window Hardware page.

A hidden feature built into our Double Hung windows is the ability to easily remove the bottom sash. For insight into this functionality please watch the Virtual Walk-Through on this page.

Sash Locks

Our architecturally correct proprietary sash lock allows for single-handed unlocking of the system. Once unlocked, rotating the sash lock a little further allows the sash to tilt out of the jamb for easy cleaning and/or removal.
