Window Hardware — Loewen Windows

Window Hardware

Our robust hardware is constructed from solid metal including bronze, brass, zinc, or stainless steel; these materials are necessary to move our oversized units. Stainless steel operators and gear systems are standard on most of our products.

Awning and Casement Hardware

Contemporary

This proprietary design is our sleekest crank and cover handle. This is the obvious choice if you’re wanting the most minimal look possible.

Awning and Casement Hardware

Provence

This crank and cover is our most decorative. It’s a great choice for traditional homes.

Awning and Casement Hardware

Tango

This crank and cover sits perfectly between our most minimal handle (Contemporary) and our most decorative handle (Provence). It looks great in both contemporary and traditional applications.

MultiPoint Lock

As a standard, every Loewen casement window includes our concealed multipoint handle. This provides maximum security and an unobtrusive look. This multipoint handle comes in all the same finishes as our crank and covers.

A few points of clarity on hardware finishes.

PVD*

Added protection for coastal environments.

Offerings with this designation utilize protective finishes that are appropriate for humid coastal environments. The most common protective finish is Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coatings, although some of our suppliers use other proprietary coatings for similar coastal protection.

Oil Rubbed Bronze

A living finish that changes over time.

This finish, abbreviated as ORB, is considered a living finish. Over time the outer color will wear away revealing the underlying material. The intensity of the reveal depends on the frequency of use, e.g., the handle on a passive French door panel will ultimately look different than the handle on the more often used active panel.

Antique Brass

Intricately detailed warm tones.

This finish is multi-toned and includes an element of brushing, it almost simulates a weathered ORB finish. The brushing creates variation across different hardware offerings, e.g., some hardware may present more of the bright brass tones whereas other pieces may present more of the darker tones.

Rustic Bronze

Churchill, Shropshire, & Traditional Pushout Handles

This is not just a finish; the moniker Rustic Bronze indicates these handles are solid sand cast bronze. The color qualities are perfectly bronze (a great match for our ORB finishes), but you’ll also find an authentic bronze texture complete with tiny pits.

Unlacquered Brass

Unique to our Traditional Pushout Handle

This living finish in our Traditional Pushout hardware line is an intentional outlier. We have not sought to make this finish available across our entire hardware program, this offering is specifically present as a very historically correct option for our pushout awning and casement platform (also see Rustic Bronze).

Other Notes on Bronze Finishes

  • Oil Rubbed Bronze – a living finish that changes with age, a good color match with many of our other bronze finishes. The hue, saturation, and lightness could be considered our standard bronze color.
  • Bronze (PVD*) – not a living finish, but a very close color match to ORB. Additionally, this finish is appropriate for extra humid coastal environments.
  • Faux Bronze – a uniform painted coating that is a very good color match to the Oil Rubbed Bronze and Bronze (PVD*) finishes.
  • Rustic Umber – presents a slightly redder hue than the finishes already listed but won’t clash with the above finishes if even a modest distance separates them. This finish may be preferable depending on the other tones present in your home.
  • Dark Bronze Metallic – a more silver hue and lightness. Though Bronze is in the name, this finish isn’t necessarily intended to match our bronze hardware family. This finish may be preferable depending on the other tones present in your home.
  • Silicon Bronze and White Bronze (LS Flush Handle) – Silicon Bronze and White Bronze are two different bronze alloys, one displaying warmer tones and one displaying cooler tones respectively. We offer one White Bronze finish (patina): Brushed, and two patinas on the Silicon Bronze iteration: Dark and Dark Lustre.
