Our Double Hung has been meticulously designed for architectural correctness making it the ideal market choice for new builds and heritage replacements. All configurations present authentic details such as stile and rail aesthetics, tall bottom rail, narrow checkrail, and a hidden jamb liner. Thanks to the innovative balance system, Loewen Double Hung windows open and close smoothly. A single-handed lock/tilt mechanism allows for inward tilting of the sash for easy cleaning – or complete removal. Luxury grade hardware is standard on all Double Hung units in a variety of finishes.

Flush Lock-Rail

Our lock-rail design ensures a clean, minimal look with no glazing stops, which maximizes the daylight-opening of the upper sash.

All-Metal Lock & Keeper

Our traditional looking sash locks maintain the authentic styling for heritage applications. Our hardware uses high quality authentic materials, there’s no interaction with plastic when operating window.

Sash Tilt Functionality

Sashes can be unlocked and tilted effortlessly with one hand, allowing for easy access to the exterior for maintenance and cleaning.

Minimalist Sill Design

This enduring design facilitates exceptional water management and also allows for brickmold to abut cleanly to the underside of the sill, leaving a minimal exposed edge. This sill is compatible with Loewen’s universal casing and sill nosing options.

Concealed Balances

The track and balances are concealed by dark shadow lines in the frame, maximizing the wood-frame aesthetic overall.

Minimal Visible Fasteners

No visible nail holes ensure a superior aesthetic while the attachment method allows for easy to service parts and maintenance.

Screen Retention Fin

This design allows for easy installation of screens, minimizes the opportunity for water infiltration, and allows half-screens to slide clear of bottom sash.

Grand Sash

In addition to our standard sash, we offer a Grand sash option which accommodates triple glazing or Tranquility glazing.

Liberty (Non-Tilting) Moldings

This option enhances structural performance overall, allowing for larger sizes.

Jamb Jacks

Jamb Jacks come standard on Loewen Double Hungs, ensuring these windows stay plumb and square. This maximizes performance and minimizes the effort required to install.
